Do I have signs of an Orofacial Myofunctional Disorder?

You may experience signs of facial pain, TMJ discomfort, mouth breathing, tongue thrust or tongue tie, sleep disordered breathing, altered facial development (misaligned teeth), or teeth grinding.
Some may experience restless sleep, Chronic fatigue, allergies, aggression, swollen tonsils, or undereye dark circles related to sleep disordered breathing.

Myofunctional therapy is a series of building exercises that focuses on individual needs in order to strengthen the muscles of the face and mouth. These specific exercises are intended to relearn proper normal function and discourage unhealthy facial compensations. Treatment can be coordinated with medical professionals such as Dentists, Orthodontists, Speech therapists, ENT, Sleep specialist or Physicians based on individual needs and as a team approach.

What to expect?

Myofunctional therapy can be sought out by individuals or a referring physician.  Patient will undergo a thorough evaluation and discuss if treatment is needed, treatment plan, and payment.  Results rely on patient compliance with treatment plan and willingness to participate in at home exercises. Referring offices will be kept informed of progress. Therapy is available for virtual sessions following first in person comprehensive assessment.
